Proposed modular component manufacturing rules
Posted: 9 June 2022
The consultation opens on 9 June 2022. Submissions must be made online or by email by 5pm, 7 July 2022.
MBIE is consulting on proposed scheme rules for the Modular Component Manufacturer (MCM) Scheme to ensure the scheme is clear, fit for purpose and able to be implemented effectively. The introduction of these rules is part of the wider Building System Reforms which focuses on building products, building methods, and putting in place systems and processes to speed up consenting for new and innovative ways of building.
The new scheme is intended to provide a streamlined consenting pathway tailored to this particular type of construction. It will also remove barriers in the consenting process that favour traditional methods and improve confidence in the quality of modular construction so it is a viable choice for many.
