Overseas products and standards timeline for up and coming changes

  • April 2024: Government announces plan to remove barriers to using overseas building products.
  • 5 September 2024: Building (Overseas Building Products, Standards, and Certification Schemes) Amendment Bill introduced to amend the Building Act.
  • 26 September 2024: Building Overseas Building Products, Standards, and Certification Schemes) Amendment Bill referred to Select Committee and submissions opened. Submissions are accepted until 14 November 2024. 
  • 2025: Changes to Building Act are passed, subject to Parliamentary process.
