Introduction

The purpose of this guidance is to support understanding of minor variations for building consent authorities, builders, designers and project managers.

Contents

The Minor Variations Guidance document provides an overview of minor variations to a building consent and how they differ from amendments to a building consent.

In addition to this, the document explains key principles to consider when processing a minor variation that have now been codified in the Building (Minor Variation) Regulations 2009.

It also covers real world examples building control officers, builders, designers and project managers may encounter during the minor variations process.
